Storage Tips

We know your storage contents are important to you. That’s why we’ve compiled a list of helpful packing tips to make your storage space and belongs safer and easier to use. We want you to enjoy your rental experience with us so let us help you take the first step.

• Determine what size storage space you will need. The space should be large enough to accommodate all of the items you wish to store. For instance, a 10 x 10 unit should provide you with enough space to store items from a 1-2 bedroom apartment.

• Choose your packing accessories. Get a variety of boxes in all necessary sizes. You may also need bubble wrap, packing tape, furniture covers, etc.

• Fill all boxes to the top. Partially full cartons may collapse or tip.

• Heavy items such as books should be packed in the smallest boxes possible to avoid injury.

• Pack your fragile items carefully, and mark them clearly as fragile. Never place heavy boxes on top of boxes containing fragile items. Not only will your breakables break, but boxes may topple and injure you.

• Label all boxes. Make a list of items in each box for easy retrieval.

• When packing the storage space, remember to leave air space around the perimeter to keep the boxes from becoming damp.

• Do not lean items against the walls. Leave a path to the back of the space clear for easy access.

• Use all space available, including the height, and place frequently used items near the door where they are easily accessible.

• Remember to always use caution when moving heavy or awkward items. Always use safe lifting practices.
